Launch mobile services to enable the public to effectively access Registry information from a wide range of internet-enabled mobile devices, at any time from any location.

- Grants patents and register trade marks and designs.
- Online services should include filing of trademark applications, renewal of all IP types, and searching of New Zealand patents, trade marks, and designs.

Provide an SMS service to enable the public to search on security against a motor vehicle on the Personal Property and Securities Register.
Insolvency Web Site
- Administer personal bankruptcies and certain company liquidations, expediting a fresh start for involved parties and bringing finality to the insolvency process.
- Online services should include receiving bankruptcy applications, searching the Insolvency and banned Directors databases, registering claims and generating creditor reports.
Crown Minerals Web Site
- Allocate exploration and mining permit
- Enforce associated compliance activity to ensure adherence to permit conditions
- Manage collection of royalties, energy resource levies and permit fees

FMIT’s role encompassed full responsibility for all IT-related tasks for the re-development of all Companies Office back office processing. FMIT was tasked with delivering the IT objectives set out in the business case approved by Cabinet in 2002.
FMIT provided the full range of SDLC services including project management, business analysis, requirements definition, solution design, development, data conversion, testing, user training, implementation rollout, support and maintenance and post rollout software enhancements.
In 2007, FMIT provided a Companies Office application for Niue. This was a first for New Zealand’s MED and FMIT. FMIT currently hosts, manages and maintains this application. See www.companies.gov.nu.
